Dr. Roberto Torres-Diaz
D.V.M.
Roberto O. Torres-Diaz, DVM. Dr. Torres is a faithful Christian man who loves to care for God’s creatures. He is a devoted family man, married with two children. Dr. Torres developed his love for animals at a very young age.
He was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico, where he grew up helping his father care for beef cattle. He also learned to ride and train horses, and his love and passion for these noble creatures inspired him to learn more about the best ways to care for them. He also grew up around goats, pigs, and chickens.
He got his first dog as a teenager but lost him due to kidney failure when his faithful friend was only six years old. The pain of losing his friend increased his interest in learning how to better care for pets and pursue veterinary medicine.
He attended the University of Puerto Rico and obtained a bachelor’s degree as an Animal Health Technologist. As a Veterinary Technologist, he was able to use his compassion while working at the San Juan Animal Shelter and the Animal Emergency Clinic. He also gained experience working with behavioral research monkeys at Cayo Santiago.
He later decided to expand his knowledge and entered the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, where he obtained his DVM degree in 2000. He then pursued a large animal internship at the University of Tennessee and, in 2003, completed a residency in food animal medicine at Kansas State University.
He worked as faculty at Virginia Tech but realized that his passion did not lie in the academic setting and moved on to work in small mixed animal practices. In 2018, God made his dream come true by giving him the opportunity to own a veterinary clinic, and he began working at Veterinary Services in Bassett, VA.

LVT, Practice Manager
Brunilda E. Seda-Gonzalez, LVT, Practice Manager. Bruni was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She demonstrated an interest in animals at a very young age, often scaring her mother by bringing home lizards and all sorts of critters she would find in the backyard.
If she found a wounded creature, she would pick it up and nurture it back to health, no matter the species. Her first pet was a chick she found after a storm. It grew into a beautiful rooster that would peck at her window in the morning to wake her up and get her to play with him.
Her passion for God’s creatures grew with her, and she gradually added a variety of animals to her family—including hamsters, mice, guinea pigs, fish, cockatiels, cats, and dogs—often against her parents’ wishes, since they were not really fond of pets.
She attended the University of Puerto Rico and earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal Health Technology in 1997. In 1999, she moved to Tennessee with her husband and started working at Rocky Hill Animal Hospital, where she obtained her Veterinary Technician License in 2000.
She worked in radiology for three years at Kansas State University, followed by two and a half years in the anesthesia department at the Virginia Tech School of Veterinary Medicine, and another year in the radiology department.
She took two years off from work to spend time with her children, then returned to work in small veterinary practices. Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of species, from small and large animals to exotic species.
Her passion for God’s creatures continues to grow, and she is grateful for the opportunity to help serve the community at Veterinary Services.
